Standing up for the rights of all individuals is a cornerstone of maintaining freedoms in a society.

-Foundation of Democracy: Individual rights and civil liberties are the bedrock of democracy, protecting citizens from government overreach and ensuring freedoms like speech, religion, and due process.

-Protection Against Abuse: Upholding human rights protects individuals from abuse and discrimination, ensuring fairness and justice for everyone.

-Preventing Tyranny: Human rights provide a safeguard against tyranny and oppression, helping to prevent conflicts and resolve them through dialogue and law.

Promoting Equality and Dignity: By recognizing the inherent dignity of each person, human rights ensure individuals are treated with respect and fairness, regardless of their background.

-Fostering a Just Society: Societies that respect human rights tend to be more stable, innovative, and inclusive, promoting fairness and driving societal progress.

-Interconnectedness of Rights: When the rights of one group are compromised, it weakens the entire structure of human rights for everyone, highlighting the importance of protecting the rights of all.

The white lady with the long hair needs to speak more slowly and distinctly. I am 70 but don’t have trouble understanding Ben Meislas or Popok. Thanks

It might be your sound system too. I often have trouble watching films with younger actors, but not classically trained actors, with good directors. I use captions, but didn't notice that they were available on Pragmatic Optimists.

But I can pretty much follow Rachel...it's just that they are discussing hugely complex issues and packing a lot into a short show.

And why hurry, pack the facts, and the speed of speech used interferes with getting what's being said. I'm not referring to moderate speeds of speaking. Listen to Michael Popok, for as an example communicating with a moderate speed .

I know, it's hard, and I get really frustrated with, again, movies with young actors mumbling into their chests and others garbling. I got told ALL the time to "speak up"! Because I had a very soft voice which sounded really loud inside my head. 😏

I have a problem, too, keeping up with the rapid speech of both presenters. This rhythmically style of speaking rapidly with a highly pitched and cracking voice seems to have swept the country among women. Communication seems to have taken a back seat to using tones these speakers apparently perceive as classy and trendy.

Young women often have higher, tighter vocal cords, esp. Caucasians. When we get older, our vocals stretch out and our voices usually deepen. But yes, it wouldn't be a bad idea for some women to get a voice coach, like singers do, if they are going to present online.

But their minds do work a lot faster than ours sometimes. 😉 Tiara knows how to talk to voters, and that helps a lot. Rachel's voice is nice too.

Some of those Fox/MAGA women are literally shrill. Ugh. I think they cultivate it. So unpleasant.

Yes, that last "interconnectedness" struck me especially. It's like architecture, or a table leg. Remove some of the bricks or one leg of the table can really compromise the integrity of the whole.

Whew. Discussing Skrmetti is really, really hard. One thing I came away with is the absolute need to have a tripartite system in cases like this. HHS should be handling a lot of the information that SCOTUS uses to make their decisions more informed. But of course, that's on Earth 3, not RFK Jr.'s abomination of the HHS.

Having had a medical board license for over 40 years, I really appreciate the need to make hard decisions with quality scientific data and studies. Dumbing down something this difficult and critically important to some folks' lives is definitely NOT the way you want to operate an informed electorate and fair legal system.

That Tennessee absurdity should have been tossed out with the bathwater, after saving the baby.
